Huu Wimbo Ni Maombi

April 14th, 2008

Time for a little shameless plug!

My friend Kimani is a hip hop / rap artist here in Madison who recently recorded a patriotic song in response to the political upheaval in Kenya, which is his homeland. The reason for the song is to encourage the Kenyans to unite and stop the violence against one another. The name of the track is “Huu Wimbo Ni Maombi”. I’m a fan of the track personally. I’ve been playing it quite a bit. The groove fits with modern music and culture while at the same time delivering a powerful message. Hopefully you like it too!

You can learn more, download the track, and donate to his cause by clicking here.

iVacation

April 9th, 2008

So I talked to my friend Jon today and we decided to start planning a little (much needed) vacation for this summer.  6 days of relaxing, waterparking in the Wisconsin Dells, and a possible trip to Summerfest in Milwaukee.  Yay for Summer!  Hopefully it all goes down as planned, otherwise I might go all Office Space on yer arse.

Speaking of vacation, I’m on it for the rest of this week.  Ironic huh?  Actually took a couple days to play catch up at home and spend some quality time on that thing we call “spring cleaning”.  Woo hoo.  I think I’d prefer the June vacation over this one, but I digest…

Welcome Home Slut

New servers are up and runnin’, the move is complete.  You’re in mah crib now readahs! :)

Movin’ On Up….

April 3rd, 2008

So if things continue as planned, this should be the last post I write to all all’s on our old server!  We’ve been migrating all of our other clients (yes a friend and I support a “handful” of small business websites) over the past week and a half, and now it’s almost Jabloggy’s turn.

Our decision to move to a new (and more local, as in this country) server comes after the 24 hour crash we had  two weeks ago.  Those bozos that host us now are, well, bozos.  We’ve had much better luck (and speeds!) with the sites that we’ve moved to the new servers so far.  I believe this should be a mega upgrade!

On a final note, I realize most of you probably could care less of our technical troubles, but you know what?  I care enough to share it with you so you’re in the know, so shut your mouth (Peter Griffin: loooove you).

Take That You Stupid @$$ Drum

March 29th, 2008

New DrumsSo 2 weeks ago I failed to share with you guys that I had my first “band” practice with another human being in like 4 years. It went fairly well, and this Sunday we’re doing it again. This time we’re bringing in a bass player to join the group. For all of you who knew us well in high school, can you guess who that might be? *bwaahahahaha*

Anyway, back to that first practice. That was like the best 2 hours of my life (recently)!! I got to kick the crap outta that drum kit as if it wasn’t mine (which it actually wasn’t, btw). It was one glorious and much needed adrenaline rush, let me tell ya. This week I’m bringing my own kit which should prove to be much more fun (for me anyway).

So if this little side project turns into a full blown band you’ll all be notified right here on the Earth’s primary news source, Jabloggy. And that means you have to come see us, because we need fans, and you all look mighty worthy of being fans.

UPDATE: Added the photo.  This was taken in February 2007 right after I bought these bad boys.

Sucks Donut…

March 29th, 2008

…when a cute lil’ (height wise) college girl throws off a vibe of attraction towards you, stuffs her coat behind you on your chair while she’s playing pool, and then comes back and can’t make conversation because she looks like she’s about to fall asleep standing up?  I really can’t tell who blew that opportunity, me or her.  (oops, I mean YOU or her)

Happy Easter…

March 23rd, 2008

… now put down the easter basket and slowly step away.  And don’t try any funny business.  A super special, super special, super skilled ninja will be by in a second to retrieve the “abandoned” paraphernalia.

Don’t worry.  I’ll make sure to think of you when I’m enjoying all of that yummy candy you “willing” donated. (dick)

$#@%in’ Twitterphobia

March 22nd, 2008

So I’m not really a big fan of Twitter (yet?), but that’s probably mostly because I haven’t really found my place on it, or rather a proper use for it. I see tons of folks using it for all kinds of things, and I guess so far I haven’t seen a need for it where I can’t live without it.

That being said, I came across this post (also below) on Tasty Blog Snack regarding the Twitter Color Wars. Interesting concept? Maybe I should join together with this funky band of Twitterians and just freakin’ force myself to oversaturate in Twitter goodness. Or maybe I should just go jump into a ravine (while Twittering about what I’m doing right now)? Anyone who reads this hunk of junk do any actual hard core Twittering? I wanna know what you use it for so maybe I can find my place in that world.

Mama Mia….

March 22nd, 2008

Teeny-tiny announcement for those of you wonderful people trapped in the Madison area.  Even a bigger announcement if you have anything to do with music and the local tuneage industry here.  The time between now and the 5th Annual Madison Area Music Awards (MAMAs) is closing fast!  Here’s just a couple of reminders if you care:

March 31st - MAMAs Nominee Announcement Party at the Brink Lounge (East Washington Ave, under the High Noon Saloon)

May 10th - The 5th Annual Madison Area Music Awards at the Barrymore Theater

There.  Now if I don’t see you there, either you don’t read this blog or you’re just being a doo doo head.  If I see you there, I’ll have no idea if you read this or not either.  Don’t judge me.  Loser.

Gag Me With a Wooden Spoon…

March 22nd, 2008

So my “softer side” (ha!) shows a little.  I just updated my “About” section above.  I figured since it said pretty much the same thing as the retarded intro in the right column, it probably should be a little more in depth and not be so repetitive.
