Yay, IKEAhhhhhh
So yeah, it’s all IKEA tomorrow! My mom and I are driving down to happy fib country to check out some new furniture for my bedroom and dining room. Lookin’ forward to it.
I think someone should write a theme song about / for IKEA. It’s like the greatest place on earth. If you disagree, then that means you’re a loser. Don’t be a loser. Love the IKEA *you should be in a trance right now* LOVE THE IKEA…..

I’m in that stage where it’s hard to say if IKEA is good or not. I was once where you were filled with the euphoria of IKEA. There is so much cool stuff there and you go through it and see all the little rooms they have and you imagine yourself living there. The problem is when you get the stuff home. I’ve found the quality of IKEA furniture to be good, but not great. I’m finding that I’m more interested in phasing out my IKEA furniture for something made out of, you know, wood. When you go to someones house that is filled with IKEA you first are like “Hey this is cool” but then it starts to feel a little fake and plastic like. Like a college dorm room. Everything is cheap. You would probably be happier in the long run to spend more on some nicer furniture that was made by people and not a machine. I had the same falling out with Cost Plus World Market. Everything seems so cool when you walk in the door and it smells so good but then you examine things closer and it’s all kinda cheap crap. Pottery Barn too, only they charge more for their cheap crap. The jury is still out on Crate and Barrel.

Well, that just means you’re getting old and I’m not.. yet.
In all reality, I will partially agree with you. While I love going to the store and buying their stuff, I can’t say that you’re getting great furniture for the prices. Yes some of their wood stuff has that plasticy feeling to it, but I guess there’s just something about the design aspect and the modern feeling of their things that makes it what it is. Apparently that becomes harder for some people to explain and understand as they get old(er).
My aunt in her 40’s and now my mom (who is new to IKEA) are liking it. They get it.
Can’t say I’ve ever bought anything from C&B or Pottery Barn. The 2 glasses I have from Cost Plus are nice, so I can’t say much for that either.

So, haven’t talked to you in FOREVER! But, I have to say…I’m jealous! I love IKEA furniture. I love everything contemporary. The more unique but simple and not too busy the better! Take some pics when you get time and post em because I wanna see! Miss seeing your happy face everyday! I still have your headphones!
