iPods and iPhones and Air, Oh My!
Well, another beautiful and tear jerking keynote has come and gone! (WAAAHHH!!!) As wonderful and as great as it was, it wasn’t quite up to par with past ones. That’s ok though, because it was enough to hold us until WWDC this summer, right?
For those of you who don’t follow Apple as closely as some (shame on you!), here’s a quick recap of the surprises that Steve Jobs unveiled:
1.) iPod Touch updates - Mail, Weather, Notes, Stocks, and Maps are now available for the iPod Touch. The only catch is a stinkin’ $20 upgrade price tag. Anyone know what’s up wit dat?!
2.) iPhone software upgrade - YAY! For those of you who own an iPhone or saw the demostration at the keynote, you’ll know what I mean when I say WIGGLE! WIGGLE!
3.) Apple TV (TAKE 2!) - so they applied a much needed kick in the donkey’s nuts update to this baby, and now I may actually consider one! At the same time though, I already have my Mac Mini on my TV, so I might be getting more out of my setup now. Oh well, yay for this because now it will shut up some of the #@$@# critics out there. Others will just continue to think they are right and say that it’s a dead product.
4.) iTunes Movie Rentals - I give this new feature 10 thumbs up (and a fo-shizzle, whatever that means)!! I’m guessing the fo-shizzle is because right after this was announced, Netflix and Blockbuster stocks dropped sharply. HA! Between this and the updates made to Apple TV, some are predicting Apple TV and iTunes to kill both HD-DVD (already done for) AND Blu-Ray. Hhhmmmmm, interesting….
5.) Time Capsule - A new hardware appliance that’s also an Airport Extreme base station. Allows mac geeks like myself to back up wirelessly using Time Machine, Mac OS X Leopard’s easy to use backup utility (Apple ads featuring Time Machine are currently airing with the Mac and PC guy, so watch for it if you’re interested!).
6 .) The New MacBook Air - holy mother of roasted chickens Batman! I had to save the best for last. Also the biggest new product that I can’t currently afford! Now being toted as the world’s thinnest notebook. Check out www.apple.com and it will hit you in the face (it’s the main feature on the homepage).
There you have it! Jabloggy’s Macworld 2008 Keynote recap and review. Brought to you by me and my typing skills.
