Found this video today on one of the other blogs I read. This is Conan O’Brien’s version of the new Grand Theft Auto. Maybe it’s just me, but has this game been toned down on violence and overdone on being “girly”? (no offense to my female readers)
If you’ve ever been the “victim” (or maybe founder is a better word) of a start-up company, you’ll know that when you make some serious progress or hit a milestone, you can feel pretty good about yourself and do a little dance to celebrate.
I’m here to report that I think this is a good time to have a small one of those little celebrations. As I type this, the soon-to-be-public Local Sounds Music Store is just shy of 250 tracks. I feel that’s a pretty good start for a one city music store that made a call for content to local artists, labels and content providers less than a month ago!
For those living in Madison, we will be launching the Local Sounds group of sites during the 2008 / 5th Annual Madison Area Music Awards on May 10th at the Barrymore Theatre.
I hope to report more good news in the near future! Thanks for (maybe) caring!
So tonight I thought I’d act stupid and nerdy, even more so than normal (you’re not very nice). I installed Flock and decided to try using it as a new tool to do my blogging and networking from. So far, this thing is SWEET. So yes, congratulations, you are now reading my first post to Jabloggy via Flock.
For those of you who have no freakin’ idea what Flock is, it’s a new (FREE) web browser that’s centered around a lot of the cool new toys on the web. Basically a browser that’s built for all the media sharing and social activities that we humans enjoy using on the Internet these days. But enough shameful promotion for the browser. Check it out for yourself by Googling for Flock or heading straight on over to www.flock.com.
Now stop reading my flocking blog post! Flock you. (there is WAY too much potential to that name)
So this past weekend I helped out a friend by backing up her documents and photos on her HP computer, wiped it, and re-installed a fresh new copy of Windows XP Home Edition (legitimate copy, folks! Although I still feel sick because I actually bought Windows…ugh).
Anywho, I was doing Windows updates, installing some new software, downloading REAL web browsers for her (Safari for Windows and Firefox), and getting all her files restored to it, when low and behold what did the anti-virus software find? #$#%@$#@$$ I mean, COME ON! It’s been running for 20 minutes on the Internet, and you contract a new STD?!?!? And don’t worry if I just made it sound as if Windows is an 8-second man who has just picked up a prostitute in front of his local Wal-Mart. That was intentional.
In comparision, my MacBook has been running since June of 2007 without any anti-virus software. I’m still waiting for my first infection….first anything to go wrong….. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
The last few days have been wonderful. Windows open, shorts, sandals, breezy, sunny. Things like that make it nice to be alive and enjoy life. Although as the summer approaches, it would be nice to have someone to enjoy it with. Can I get an amen from all the single peepz out there?!?
So Friday night we (and by we I mean Jason, his brother and I) went downtown to the Annex to see the band Hue. For those of you who have known me for awhile, you’ll probably remember that Hue is one of the bands we shared the stage with back in high school. Unknown to me, they’ve all been living down here for a while now. Small freakin’ world, yeah?
It was cool to catch up with the guys from Hue a little and to feel like young high schoolers again! But one night of that feeling was enough. Back to being “old”. DOH!
So my parents are remodeling their front living room as we speak. Part of the renovation consists of a home theater with surround sound and a 60″ LCD Projection TV. I think the title speaks for itself….
My friend Kimani is a hip hop / rap artist here in Madison who recently recorded a patriotic song in response to the political upheaval in Kenya, which is his homeland. The reason for the song is to encourage the Kenyans to unite and stop the violence against one another. The name of the track is “Huu Wimbo Ni Maombi”. I’m a fan of the track personally. I’ve been playing it quite a bit. The groove fits with modern music and culture while at the same time delivering a powerful message. Hopefully you like it too!
You can learn more, download the track, and donate to his cause by clicking here.
So I talked to my friend Jon today and we decided to start planning a little (much needed) vacation for this summer. 6 days of relaxing, waterparking in the Wisconsin Dells, and a possible trip to Summerfest in Milwaukee. Yay for Summer! Hopefully it all goes down as planned, otherwise I might go all Office Space on yer arse.
Speaking of vacation, I’m on it for the rest of this week. Ironic huh? Actually took a couple days to play catch up at home and spend some quality time on that thing we call “spring cleaning”. Woo hoo. I think I’d prefer the June vacation over this one, but I digest…
